Anyone recall a Peyton Place guest star?

He was an elderly gentleman whose gimmick in PP was that he spoke in a Soft. Staccatto. Way. He guested "in character" on Get Smart and, in the CONTROL office, Max "catches" this tic and shows him to the "Deep. Comfortable. Couch".

I believe you are talking about George Macready, who played the magazine reporter, Mr. Fitzmaurice, in the episode Operation Ridiculous.
