One thing I can mention having seen one Season 9 episode on a grainy 16mm print is that for the first time since Season 2, they restored the long version of the theme music in the opening credits. In seasons 1-2 it would play over drawings of the Washington D.C. buildings, but in Season 9 the longer theme played over drawings of FBI lab equipment before getting to the announcer's "The FBI! A Quinn Martin production." Going back to the long version of the theme music was a nice touch.

AOL currently has a season 8 episode in its In2TV section. Title is "Dark Christmas."

I have an audio recording of the start of an episode from that last season (the episode title was "The Lost Man"). It went like this:

You heard the announcer say, "The FBI, a Quinn Martin production."

Then, you'd heard an extended version of the theme.

Finally, you'd hear "starring Efrem Zimbalist Jr."

I have some episodes from seasons seven and nine on DVD. I think Erskine drove mostly Torinos in the end credits, and in 1972, I think he drove a full-size Mercury sedan.

Check the cars in the street scenes..they are all ford products, even several blocks away. Not all new ones either. A lot of logistics went into those scenes.
