Series on DVD

Any news on a DVD release?

reply

The series is owned by Warner Brothers. Hopefully they will put out season sets through their Archive Program.

FYI:

Amazon.com

Had released on DVD the entire series of this classic TV show which is available through Warner Home Video. All 9 seasons have been digitally remastered with special commentary from the surviving cast along with those classic Ford/Lincoln Mercury commercials from the 1960's and 1970's.

reply

The vintage commercials are worth the purchase price even if no show was attached. Seriously archival stuff.

reply

I'm not finding this on Amazon, am I confused TV junkie or has is it available elsewhere or just not yet released?

reply

It has not been released in any format on DVD and the previous posters are to put it bluntly, liars.

reply

It was posted on the internet...therefore it is true! -:)

The most recent information I got is that Warner Bros. is planning a gradual release of all seasons, with bonus material, starting early next year. Check this address: http://www.TVShowsOnDVD.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=14675.

Season 1, Part 1 will be released on May 24,2011, according to DVD on TV. 16 episodes.

reply

I look forward to seeing all those Ford and Merc's!

reply

I do not see it on Amazon - any news? Thanks in advance!

Any news on when Part II of Season 1 will be released? I do wish that WB would have just put out the whole season at one time but I would still like to have the rest of season 1.

Released season 1 part 1 by WBSHOP.COM! Received first set yesterday!!!!

reply

Let us know how the quality is, that is, if you're not too busy tearing around in those classic Mustangs and Cougars!

reply

The new DVD's quality is....OK. It's on single-sided DVD's which is great. The DVD artwork is pretty vanilla, no biggie there. The quality of picture and sound is what you'd expect from a set generated from (I think) the original TV tapes without any remastering. It's like watching a re-run of the show without commercials. Lastly - there is ZERO historical chapters or disks...no bonus data whatsoever. Adding up the artwork on the DVD, no remaster, and nothing historical -- this looks like a "rush to market" effort, responding to viewer demand. But I might be wrong. Bottom line for me is that I can overlook a lot to finally be watching my favorite TV show of my youth, having suffered through All American Network's "F.B.I. Fridays"...HULA episodes on my laptop...and (from what I hear) some pirated sets that are out there. If you loved this classic, go to WBShop and get it -- we need as many purchases as possible so they'll keep making the sets -- this first release is Season 1, Part 1 (I HATE that nasty little marketing scam.) Hope this helps...

reply

It's not a "rush to market" effort, it's a made-to-order DVD from Warner Bros. Archive. ALL of their DVD are bare bones ... no special features, just the film or TV show itself.

It is what it is. With fewer and fewer people buying DVDs, this is the only way Warner Bros. can release most of their older catalog and make any money. By making the DVDs "made to order," it means they only produce as many as they sell.

Yeah Adam -- that's pretty much what I had discovered as well, thanks.

Now for the $64,000 question -- how do we get the rest of the series done? What do we need to do to get Season One, Part Two? If these are "made-to-order," how do we "order?"

M.

reply

Groovy -- The F.B.I. Season One, Part Two is coming out September 20th on Amazon!!! Everyone order, keep these DVD's coming!

reply

HEAD'S UP!!!! SEASON 1, PART 2 IS NOW ON SALE AT WBSHOP. These are made-to-order DVD's, so we need as many sales as possible -- that way WB won't have a reason to stop producing the rest of this great series on DVD! Enjoy!

BEWARE EVERYONE! I ordered The First Season Part Two from WBShop, and received a DVD box that was labelled The Frist Season Part Two, but contained the four discs from The First Season Part One...so I have duplicates of Part One. I've emailed WBShop to fix the situation, I will let y'all know what happens. In the meantime, check your "The FBI - The First Season Part Two" box to ensure you have the correct DVD's!

reply

WB Shop sent me Season One, Part Two without batting an eye, once I informed them of the mixup with the Part One disks that were enclosed in the Part Two set. Great Job, WB Shop! Anyone hear anything on Season Two Part One?

reply

Hi Everyone -- Season 2, Parts 1 AND 2 are out at WBShop!!!

Pricey, but they're doing what they said they'd do -- They got out seasons 1 adn 2 in the first year of DVD creation. Order today so we can keep them manufacturing these!!! Enjoy!

I just got my season 2 set. I love this show and think it's the most interesting show I have ever seen. It definitely ranks in the top 10 of all time. Efrem Zimbalist Jr. and the stories are what draw you in. The supporting cast and guest stars are always top notch as well. Probably my favorite 2 episodes from the series are back to back episodes on Season 2, Volume 1. The episodes are titled "The Plague Merchant" guest starring the great Arthur Hill and "Ordeal" guest starring the great Gerald S. O'Loughlin. Both stories are gripping and pull you in and the 2 guest stars listed are favorites of mine.

I just ordered season 2 through Best Buy(supposed to arrive around the 15th).

reply

All - I have parts 1 and 2 of Season One and am thoroughly enjoying the show. I was just a kid not paying much attention when the series was originally broadcast, but hearing the theme music stirs my soul! I cannot wait to get season two, so thanks to all who participate in keeping this show going.

Any word on when/if Season 3 will be coming out? I love this show and would like to have the entire series on DVD.

reply

I WANT ALL FANS TO KNOW THAT ALL 9 SEASONS ARE NOW ON DVD.

reply

Great show for it's entire run. I think anyone would love to watch it. It's always interesting to see how things turn out. All the stories are based on real cases.

August 2016 - Bad Discs / MODS Damaged - All 9 Volumes

- Let it be known, after purchasing all 9 volumes - various sets from DeepDiscount, Sold by Amazon and a 3rd party authorized seller on Amazon, every set has at least one or more discs with surface damage, This appears to be from mishandling, circular swirls, small scratches, blotches and a complete lack of QA. Overtime this damage could lead to an unreadable disc, oxidation and many other anomalies causing permanent disc readability.

Exchanging these back to the original vendor will do no good as its a random draw. In all, not one set had a full clean set of discs. Be sure and check your discs

I am working with Warner Brothers who authenticated my purchases and they will be exchanging all discs
