better song parody

A lot of science fiction involves creatures and people who think and feel very differently from the average human.

For example, the alien Puppeteers in Larry Niven's Known Space stories are cowards, except for insane Puppeteers who sometimes do brave deeds and are regarded with pity and scorn by the sane Puppeteers. Puppeteers would find the Branded theme song fascinating with its display of Human values so different from their own. When I was was a teenager I wrote parodies of the Branded theme song in my head, written from the point of view of a society of cowards who think heroism is insane.

They went something like:

All but one man ran.
There at Bitter Creek.
And they say he stayed to fight...

Branded!
Marked with the hero's shame.
What do you do when you're branded,
will you clear your name?

He was innocent,
Not a charge was true,
But the world will never know..

Branded!
Scorned as the one who stayed
What do you do when you're banded
but you know you're afraid?

And where ever you go
for the rest of your life
you must prove...
you're a coward!
