Cannon
I could swear at the start of Zulu, I saw a cannon that was loaded by pulling out a horizontal side breech on the left side of the barrel. Did I? I cannot find any reference to this.
You would have, in all probability, as the opening scenes were of the aftermath of the disastrous battle at Isandhlwana, (Hill of the Small Hand).
