Looks Like a Disney Made For TV Movie

Although I looked forward to watching this film again (I first saw it on television in the '60s) it didn't fail to disappoint me.
The film had the look of a made for TV Disney affair, circa 1957. This was probably due to the director's vast experience in shooting television, with almost no other film to his credit.
The fighting scenes look fake. The acting is awful and only the music carries the film. The music of Hank Williams, that is. The background score with its melodramatic tone everytime Hank reaches for a bottle of booze puts the nail in this movie's coffin.
A remake is in order.

Poor Hank was probally spinning in his grave when this came out.

Hopefully if a new movie is ever made, it will be factual and not the nonsense that this movie was, as I mentioned on another post, the only good thing about the movie was that it turned me onto Hanks music, and the Drifting Cowboys of course.

Wasn't Hanks heart attack brought on by a morphine overdose?

Help stamp out and do away with superfluous redundancy

I first saw this at our local theater when it came out. I was just a kid and I loved it. It got me interested in the music and in the life of Hank Williams.
I have seen this film many times over the years and I can't say that it reminds me of a Disney film...I just think it looks like something from the times.
It is cheesy.... no doubt about that. I also agree about that terrible melodramatic background score. I cringe whenever I watch this film.
I give George Hamilton credit for doing this. He did his best with what he was given.

It's going to be a bumpy night!"
