that DVD cover is incredibly misleading now, isn't it?

It gives you a very classic gothic horror vibe, when the actual movie is much more meditative and somber than that. In fact, I'd say it's much closer to a drama than an actual horror or thriller. Take away the rather silly vampires, and you have yourself a rather solid character piece about a man struggling to keep his sanity in check as he witnesses the extinction of the human race on his own.
