On this Wed 9/15/10 on THIS TV

This TV, a old movie showing network available on Comcast, is showing this movie once, Wed Sept 15 at Noon, (Eastern Time).

Ib Melchior is a god.

Thanks! I get ThisTV on broadcast on 17.2 out of Philadelphia. It is on at noon. I remember this movie from when I was a kid and have never seen it since. It's cheesy but great fun.

Thanks! I was going to post this myself, but you beat me to it.

I watched the old Outer Limits episode _The Premonition_ yesterday because a few people had recommended it. You can see it at Hulu.com

Ib Melchior wrote the story and it's about time travel too.

I am glad to say the Ib is still with us. I'd love to meet him. Unlike many sci-fi "budget" filmmakers of his generation, he cared about the genre and did his best with minuscule budgets. Robinson Crusoe on Mars is an example of his best work, I think.

There is a biography on the man, available from Amazon and others.

I haven't read it but I'm going to get it and report on one of these forums what I thought about it.

I saw "The Premonition" recently. I thought it was only OK but at least THIS TV is keeping the Outer Limits alive. They show it most mornings, 4 AM (Eastern Time).

Unfortunately, THIS TV really hacks up their movies and has incredibly frequent and long lasting commercial breaks. The schedule on their Web page is frequently wrong about what movies are playing at what time. They seem to be making a minimal effort.

I don't think THIS TV broadcasts in Hi-Def, at least not where I live.

Just goes to show that It's The Story, Stupid!

If you've got a story and plot and a theme (hopefully) and some characters you can care about, then you don't need a huge budget because the viewers will overlook that. Look no further than the old Star Trek for examples. Heck, they ripped off Shakespeare more times than I can count!

Remember the Horta episode? Spray-painted beach balls and a guy crawling around under a rug. Would a million dollars and ILM make it much better? No.

The old Outer Limits is another good example of what you can do with a decent story and no budget. I've got them on DVD but still catch them on the tube.

We don't get THISTV directly. A local station picks up part of their schedule, part of the day. I hope Time Travellers isn't too heavily edited...
