Movie was a total metaphor for marriage and resonsibility

Typically, the male shies away from the commitment of marriage and the responsibility of an ongoing, permanent relationship. However, society finds ways of "forcing" the male into these types of relationships. Thus trapped, the male fights to extricate himself from the situation, using all means at his disposal to get free. However, ultimately, he is "domesticated" and becomes resigned to his fate, even finding some measure of happiness. Happens every day.

wow. very well said. but whats all the stuff about sand?

In an intellectual exercise, everything is a metaphor for something else. The sand is a metaphor for the device of entrapment.
