This is a very good movie.

Victor Buono does a great performance as does Ellen Corby as the mother who actually is really more responsible for the murders than Victor.

I agree. A criminally underdiscussed movie.

Performances all round are terrific and the film skillfully shifts it's focus back and forth from the killer and his motivations to the exhaustive criminal investigation undertaken by detectives.

Buono and his Mother dynamic hark back somewhat to Norman Bates and PSYCHO.

A film very much worth seeing.

And Darkness and Decay and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all.

i really enjoyed this film when i saw it one late summers night with the light off and a cool breeze creeping through the window. I always enjoy anything with victor bueno starring in it, such a great actor often under rated and sadly missed since his early death.I wish they would re show this film as it is well worth watching if you get a chance to view it.

I love this movie, although I haven't seen it in, oh, 15 to 20 years. Ellen Corby was excellent as the mother, and Buono gave a chilling performance. The movie seems to have been taken out of circulation, not available on DVD. Too bad.

I am still after getting a copy of it.
It is on youtube at the moment too

It was on TCM today.

As of this date The Strangler is still available on DVD-R from Sinister Cinema. Their transfer is from 16mm, full frame, open matte. Not pristine, but very watchable. A strong "B". Considering how rarely seen this has been over the years, I'd scoop on a copy ASAP. Sinister has been known to withdraw titles from their catalog, sometimes under pressure from rights holders.

I have generally had good luck with Sinister, quality and service-wise, and they run sales almost constantly. Check them out.
