Filming Locations

Does anyone know where this movie was filmed? The farm is so isolated and I would love to know if it was filmed on a movie set or somewhere maybe in northern California...any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, I'd like to know where it was filmed, too. The Cutler farm and the Fields mansion look oddly real. Especially the Cutler farm..looks like a real working little farm. Also, what city/town are Lucy and Carol go Mother/daughter shopping in? I'd guess generic, easy shoot location southern Cal. town, if anyone else knows different, would love to know.

I'm trying to remember an old movie. In one scene, there is a little girl in front of a store jumping rope and singing:

"Lizzie Borden took an axe
And gave her mother forty whacks.
And when she saw what she had done,
She gave her father forty-one."

Is this the movie? If so, that particular scene was filmed in Riverside, California. A family member used to live there and remembers the scene, but not the movie it was in. I'm trying to find the name of the movie that this scene is in, and Apostic on the I Need to Know board thought maybe this was the movie.

Thanks!

Yes, the scene where the mother and daughter go shopping in town (at about 20 min into the film) was filmed in Riverside CA. I went to college there starting in 1971, and I recognize where they are. The scene starts with a long shot of them driving down a street; and there is a huge old building in the background (on the right side of the street) that looks like it could be a cathedral or something. That's actually the Mission Inn (in Riverside). Here's the web site for the Mission Inn:

For comparison purposes, check out their photo gallery page, especially these two photos of outside shots of the building:

You may also want to look at some of the outside street photos of the Mission Inn on this web page:

It's a wonderful old place from an architectural and decor standpoint.

Later in the movie (at about 42 min) there's even a line where the Emily Cutler character says that she and her husband Bill have a dinner reservation in Riverside.

I think this is probably the movie you're looking for. If I recall correctly, they start out with "Lizzie Borden" and then start chanting "Lucy Harbin".

I really appreciate it!

Was it the movie you were looking for?

I'll have to see the movie some day to make absolute sure, but it probably is the right movie.

Thanks again!

There was definitely some location shooting, but in some of the interior scenes when there's a window or an open door, you'll see that the exterior looks oddly flat, like a blown-up picture . . . you'll notice this as well about the "city" behind the detective in Davis' DEAD RINGER.
