One of the greatest moments in all of cinema

1:04:55

I plan on watching this on TCM tonight. Since it wont be on a DVD or VHS tape, I can't be sure as to when the 1:04:55 mark will be. What happens at that point in the film?

reply

A chase scene, but I didn't see anything really of note unless you count what the victim was wearing.

My moment is at the supper table when Bruno declaims about the full moon. Just that few seconds meant the whole exercise was worthwhile. LOVE Chaney!

Thanks, Tresix.

I watched the movie last night and at around that moment (1:04:00 -- 1:05:00) Emily is running from the girls and ends up getting caught by the bald brother.

The movie itself wasn't anything special. Even though it's advertised as a dark comedy by a handful of sites, its mostly a horror film. A 2 star (**) horror film.

Good ending though.

Bruno's statement about the full moon is definitely a memorable moment, but my favorite is probably the one right after that, when the camera pans around to the various family members at the dinner table. The shot of Ralph gnawing on his "rabbit" is just classic.

That whole dinner scene is wonderful. Jim Morton remarks in Re/Search #10: Incredibly Strange Films, "At times Spider Baby is like a television sitcom directed by Luis Buñuel" and uses this particular scene as an illustration.

It's on You Tube and in the public domain (where it can be downloaded for free or viewed).

The best moment in the movie is when Carol Ohmart undresses. And of course, she puts on one sexy lingerie show.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

I just caught this flick on JAGGED and LOVED it. I thought the girls were hilariously devilish. My favorite moment of the film, after having seen what happened to the first guy in Virginias "Web", was watching poor drunk Peter standing there as she slowwwly pulls out the web to play "SPIDER" (*menacing music*). LOL.

The whole cast and the Direction was excellent. Very surprising considering the other films considered in the same category that could not be farther from it.

R.I.P. Jill Banner, and Lon Chaney Jr.

When Virginia has Peter tied up in the chair:
Peter - “What’s the spider do now?”
Virginia - “Now the spider does a little dance for the bug. She has to tease him, torment him, and make him wiggle, so that his juice will taste better.”
Peter - “Virginia, I think we better play another game.”
