Nieves Conde on horror

Jose Antonio Nieves Conde was probably the best spanish film director of the 50s with, at least, three known masterpieces "Rebeldia", "Los peces rojos" and the superb "Surcos", apart from other brilliant movies like "Balarrasa" and "Todos somos necesarios".

So is no wonder that "El sonido prehistorico" is such an interesting movie.
Nieves Conde was a professional of filmmaking in every sense of the word...today sadly forgotten by spanish government due to his political ideas.

I`m glad you liked this movie, because its the only sci-fi he ever did.

reply

Nieves Conde himself dismissed this one as just something that helped put food on his table.

reply

Just because someone does something for money doesn't mean it's worthless or unrepresentative.

reply

What were his politics? Was he a Franco supporter?

reply

He was a lifelong Falangist (the Spanish Fascist party), which makes him, at least partially, a Franco supporter (even if Franco somewhat cut official affiliation with Falange later on).
