This movie stinks

The book may have been a best seller, but the film is little more than
trash about trashy journalism. Richard Quine is a watered down version
of Billy Wilder. Tony Curtis tries being a Cary Grant type and fails in
the process. Poor Henry Fonda and Lauren Bacall seem trapped in a movie
that wastes their talents. As for Natalie Wood, comedy was never her
forte and this is a prime example of that. All in all, skip this unless
you're a masochist who enjoys comedies that just aren't funny.

I tend to agree with you. This flick is incredibly overrated, and I seriously doubt most who like it would be raving about it if the CAST were different. The all-star cast has blinded people it seems.

This movie is so boring that I paused it several times and didn't think I would make it through the first half hour. It did pick up somewhat after the 1-hour mark, though, as things got rolling.

I give this one a C- and a 4 on a 10-point scale.

Total junk, except Larry Storch was funny when he went nuts and put the whole world under arrest at the end.

It's a movie for kids, and when I was thirteen I loved it. It introduced me to the major stars in it, and because of this I saw "Mister Roberts," "Splendor in the Grass" and "Some Like it Hot" so quit being so harsh on this cute movie.

It IS a cute movie. And the movies that you mentioned are all classics. I first saw this movie when it came out...I was 21. At times it is silly, but I loved that car chase at the end..reminded me of It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad world. Natalie Wood died way too soon...Tony Curtis...what a hunk.
