Are you kidding me, 6.9??

I don't understand how it could such a low score. This was the funniest movie I have ever seen in my life. I couldn't stop laughing. I wasn't even planning on watching it, but it caught my attention and I couldn't stop watching. I so Pillow Talk afterwards and although it was quite funny it wasn't as good as this movie. And it has a 7.4 rating?! This should definitly have a higher rating than Pillow Talk.

Anyway, I gave this film a 9. It is my favorite comedy film of all time. I know many would bash me for such comments, but I love this movie so much. Modern comedies are usually too irreverent for me to enjoy. I'm not old fasioned either because I do enjoy some modern comedies, irreverence and all, but too much really really bothers me.

Just my thoughts. Hope someone agrees and I don't get flammed. (By the way, I'm not old)

Rotten Tomatoes gives it 71%, which is a good healthy rating. Their "audience response" is 76%

Life, every now and then, behaves as though it had seen too many bad movies

Definitely ought to be rated higher;

strong supp.cast-and there is always the dependable Tony Randall ~

I just helped it.

I agree, at least that it's very good. It cracks me up with Rock's melodramatic looks with the desperate music overlaid. Not to mention the slick lines.

I'm not old either - this is older than I. But I happily admit I'm "old-fashioned" and yes, the "irreverent" stuff I've been living through most of my life gets VERY "old" to me. I like some of it - if there's supporting stuff you can't help liking ("Seinfeld" TV), but most isn't worth it to me.

I like having TV/movies I can watch in front of my small child.

I just gave it 10 stars. I think it's as funny as "If a Man answers", "Man's Favorite Sport" and "The Thrill of it all". All those are 10 star comedies from the sixties for me.

It really depends on what a person's personal rating system is. For example, my rating system is thus:

1 to 2 stars = strongly hated it/hated it

3 to 4 stars = strongly disliked it/disliked it

5 to 6 stars = kinda liked it/liked it

7 to 8 stars = really liked it/really, really liked it

9 to 10 stars = loved it/really, really loved it

Therefore, my rating this movie a six would simply mean that I liked it. It's not a bad rating at all coming from me. It just means I liked it rather than loved it.

That's part of the problem of peace movie rating sites that leave it up to people to interpret what the numbers mean -- so many of us have a different idea of the numbers scale.

Obviously, IMDB needs to adopt the system that Netflix has, and make it clear what each number stands for. That way, people aren't making it up as they go along, leading to a wrong idea of what it means when they see a movie rating. Some people might look at the 6.9 of this film and think that it was a negative reflection of the film, when actually it could mean that the film is "really liked" -- which is how I interpret that number.

Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!

I agree with it depends on how a person rates...

Myself - 1-3 are movies not worth watching - these are garbage (only rated 1
movie as a 1)
4 - only if really desperate (nothing else on)
5 - don't go out of your way to watch but OK if you do
6 - I recommend watching - a decent movie
7 - very good movie - these everyone should watch at sometime in their
life
8 - a must watch - movies that should be no question in a top 500 list
9 - the best of the best - if not if top 250 all-time list, then the
list is flawed - most should be top 100
(have 48 of 700 listed as 9's)
10 - I don't use it for my own system - but on here, my top 10 movies
I list as 10

This movie - 7 / 10

It's a very cute movie, but I only think it's about a 7. The "Dolores" part at the end was a riot, but the rest of it is mostly charming and silly than actually laugh out loud funny, to me. Enjoyable all the way through though.

Doris Day and Rock Hudson are great as always. It is cute movie.
