Hair

Could Doris Day's hair be any bigger in this movie? Wow.

I came on to say I can't believe how OBVIOUS it is that she's wearing a wig throughout the movie, particularly the early scenes where she gets locked out of the house. The wig looked like it might fall off any minute.

reply

I agree. It was most likely a wig...

Check her out in a movie called The Ballad of Josie. She's wearing a giant beehive in the 1800's old West!

I thought her hair made her look older in this movie. I think she should of kept it more like it was in either PILLOW TALK or LOVER COME BACK. In fact, it's rather remarkable how much older she looked in this movie! But, I must say she reminds me a bit of Diane Keaton here, which isn't an entirely bad thing!

Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!

She wore wigs in all her movies -- they were easier to maintain and keep the style the same in re-takes, and from scene to scene -- esp. when shooting out of sequence.

Her hair is always a couple of inches higher than it needed to be. What were they thinking?

reply

It was the 60s. Lots of them did that, but not in every scene. Also in some films I think Doris wore wiglets or "rats" in her hair to make it bigger, like in That Touch of Mink and The Thrill of it all.
