This film needs a blu ray treatment.

The gorgeous visuals and soundtrack would be greatly served by a proper high-def release.

Couldn't agree more and I would love to experience this in BR.

VCI Entertainment are currently working on a Region 1 Blu-ray; it's slated for release sometime in 2015.

Where did you read that?

VCI Entertainment mentioned it on their official Facebook page.

Arrow Video are releasing it this year.

The Arrow release in the US, scheduled for April 14, 2015, is now on hold due to "legal issues" (which might be VCI protesting the release).

Arrow will also be releasing it in England, and the transfer is said to be the best looking version on home video anywhere.

reply

Arrow just sent me a copy of the blu ray to review and the transfer is stunning!

reply

Did they send it to you in PAL or NTSC format? I'm not sure that Arrow will be able to release it in the US, due to possible ownership of the title in the US by VCI.

reply

Im in the Uk so it was PAL. I hope you guys get it over there soon.

I write for a film website and get sent preview discs from PR companies and our site has a great relationship with Arrow films.

reply

If you order from Arrow they usually ship well before the release date. Many pre ordered through them and got before it hit the street. This is one of their more anticipated titles.

reply

There is no PAL or NTSC with Blu-ray.

The U.K. Version is region free. Just buy it from Amazon.co.uk. I just finished watching it on my American player and it looked gorgeous. Still had some problems, but worth the import for the visuals, especially for Bava fans.

The Blu-ray is officially out in the U.S. as of early July. I bought it at the store today. Arrow had slated a release of it for the U.S./Canada late last year, but it got pulled for some reason (not sure why?). I was a bit angry and afraid that it wouldn't get a legit release here, but they came through. It's fantastic disc--beautiful transfer and loaded with bonus material.
