Jamie Farr/Klinger from MASH?

Did I see Jamie Farr/Max Klinger from MASH in this thing? He was maybe in his 20's. He was one of the extra's that held the fake Santa.
Does anyone know what film stock they used to film this. It almost looks like it was filmed in 16mm.

reply

Hi, I thought that the character of "Stobo" looked a lot like Klinger too! He even had a big nose. It didn't sound like him though, and the credits did not list him. They say Al Nesor played this character. I don't know about the film stock though. Sorry.

reply

Al Nesor was a burlesque comic. His most well known role would have been as "Eagle Eye Fleagle" in the musical version of "Li'l Abner".

reply

Sorry, that was Evil Eye Fleagle. Evil Eye because he had the power to put the Whammy on you.

reply

MST3K made a joke about this.

reply

The "Sinister Cinema" company has this film in their catalog, and advertises it as "Starring Pia Zadora and Jamie Farr."

I think it is just another actor that resembles a young Jamie Farr.

Cheers!

Sincerely, Steve B.

reply

I thought it was him also, but he was too old and short to be the real one.The resemblance was uncanny,however...

reply

"kerrydragon"...Yes, the resemblance was uncanny.

Check out Al Nessor's photo:

Jamie Farr was a household name by this time. Al Nesor was actually in his 50's. Just goes to show how damaged film can change appearances!

reply

Thanks for the info everybody!

Klutzygirl: I thought Jamie Farr didn't become a "household name" until he starred in "Mash" during the '70's.

Cheers!

reply

Yeah Jamie was just a bit part actor in the mid-60s. Working true but hardly a "household name".

But that other guy did look alot like Jamie although considering half his head is covered with that "Martian" helmet the only thing you can really see of his face was his huge honker. And he is covered in that green grease paint.

reply

That's true "charlesadams1". By the time "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" was produced, Jamie had some films on his resume such as "The Blackboard Jungle" ('55), however, he was far from being a "household name" at that point in time. I always assumed when SCCTM was being filmed, Jamie was busy working on the set of "The Greatest Story Ever Told" ('65)...but I could be wrong.

Cheers !

Sincerely,

Steve B.

reply

In "The Blackboard Jungle" Jamie Farr is listed as "Jamil Farrah" in the credits.

reply

Maybe not 'household' exactly, but, he played a mentally challenged high school student in The Blackboard Jungle (1955), and an apostle in The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965). With a LOT in between.

reply

He's had an amazing career!

Cheers!

reply

During all of this guy's scenes I kept thinking "what the hell is wrong with this guy's face?" He was twitching and grimacing and licking his lips like a coke fiend. It's possible he was trying to steal the scene or draw attention to himself, but in an insane way. I don't know why nobody told him to knock that crap off. It was really distracting.
