think they will make a full leangth movie of this someday?

I'm not saying they should. most likely this classic should be left alone. but I'm surprised they haven't made a live action movie of this yet or even a cartoon. that could ruin it who knows. plus I'm sure this will be better.

It's been 52 years since it first aired and they haven't tried it yet. I would think that if they haven't yet they probably won't but never say never I suppose.

There was Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and the Island of Misfit Toys, a CGI movie released in 2001: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0293913/?ref_=nv_sr_1

I don't know if it was any good or not, since I've never seen it and have no desire to do so. You don't mess with the classics.

I've seen that movie. The animation is godawful, some of the worst CGI I've ever seen, but the movie is good, lots of characters from the original return, and I liked it, minus one stupid plot point where Rudolph was considering having his nose changed.

looked at the IMDB for it, they did not even try to keep to Rudolph's age when he met King Moonracer? Or Herrme's experence as a dentist? Who is Queen Camile, King Moonracer is supposed to be alone?

reply

I hope not. This stands the test of time.

True craftsmanship would be required to undertake a live take of this movie as it has so many animal roles, unlike in Winnie the Pooh or the Grinch.

As an animated cartoon movie, in order to keep the costs down? Surely that is the key element is stopping a live-action feature from being created. Not enough humans like in the Grinch to portray realistic animals, unless an adaption of the stage version is considered, which I have not seen but really amused it's a real thing. This movie is timeless and one I always watch every Christmas season.

The original version is an hour. It doesn't need to be longer than that.
