The scene where she puts the tablet in front of the door

The scene where she puts the tablet in front of the door and the cat comes to eat the food.

I have seen the exact same scene in another movie, maybe it was the american night by truffaut too but Im not sure.

Did anybody else notice that?

reply

Yes, you're right. It says this in the Movie Connections section :P
I can tell you that there's a similar scene in "The Man Who Loved Women", another film by Truffaut.
So, that's 3 movies I've seen that features a scene like this... and I've only seen 5 of his movies =)

Same scene in DAY FOR NIGHT. I noticed it, too, and thought it kind of sweet that Truffaut sentimentality included it in the later movie.

Did Truffaut love cats?

reply

In French films, cats symbolize an Earthly love. Or lust, if you want. Great Jean Vigo's film "L'Atalante" is an another example.

The movie-within-a-movie in Day for Night is an homage/spoof of The Soft Skin, I think. It even ends similarly.
