William Holden's exercise

William Holden stands on his hands against a wall about halfway through this film and I've seen it in other movies as some sort of morning or just before bed exercise but what is someone supposed to accomplish by it? Does it improve the bloodflow to the brain or something?

No idea but despite his heavy drinking taking a toll on his looks, Holden was one of the rare Classic actors who was physically fit. Take note of him in Sunset Blvd and Picnic, most actors of that time were flabby and not as toned as Holden was.

I used to do handstand pushups leaning against the wall. It's just to add more weight. I couldn't do it for a million bucks today.
