Guy not wanting to see daughter

At the end at the gas station she offered to let him meet his little girl and he said no. It looks like he would want to see her for a minute. He would just be a "gas station man" to the child. No danger of the child knowing the truth. So, why not just walk a few feet out the door and look in the car window.

At the end of the movie, it was clear he had moved on with his life, while she had not, or not as fully. Seeing the daughter would not serve a useful or healthy purpose for him at that point. An excellent, well-grounded ending.
