The kids had the same name

Does anyone else think it's kinda strange how Guy's son and his daughter had VERY similar names. I think that's some type of symbolism.

It wasn't really all that strange or obscure.

Franciose / Francois was the only name that Guy and Genivieve had ever discussed all along. The feminine Franciose when the were still together, walking along the shore (when Genivieve insisted that in her family they always had girls); the masculine form Francois in letters after she she told Guy that she was pregnant.

I'm assuming, though, that Guy had not told Madeliene that Francois was the name he had initially chosen for his first child with Genivieve.

This was easy to miss since the actors were singing , operetta style, in French. They had agreed to the name Francois/Francoise, spelled with an "E" for females.
