Dreadful hair and makeup

Every decade is bad about imposing its own standards of beauty on hair and makeup in movies, but I think the '60s were the worst. There's absolutely nothing Victorian (or Edwardian, I forget exactly when this movie is supposed to take place) about the hair and makeup in this film, and the clothes are almost as bad. The men's suits were wrong. Most of the men were clean-shaven with 1960s hairstyles. The women were worse -- bubble cuts, beehives, and helmet hair, plus heavy black eyeliner, etc.

Oh well. Harvey was good and Novak was beautiful, but her accent was pretty bad.

With its 1960s wigs, make up and fashions, Funny Girl is just as bad, but I still enjoy the movie.
