An exceptional British film from 1963 - hitherto unknown to me and seen for the first time, has its two leads - Alan Bates and Denholm Elliot - on top form with a brilliant - and award-winning - screen play.

And it is a wonderful little gem. Alan Bates' character takes a lot from Joe Lampton but the performances are great and the plot ending curiously satisfying.

Have never heard of it but am watching on Talking Pictures now. Enjoying it, Alan Bates is always excellent.
