When Abbey Lincoln's father is talking to Ivan Dixon about how to deal with white racism and incivility he tells him to "act the part," calling it a form of "psychology."

That's an interesting look into how this self-defeating behavior was not only ingrained but passed down to younger generations. Thank god there were more people with opposing viewpoints or we never would have seen such changes.
