Janet's fate (spoilers)

A good Hammer effort. Looks great, plot not so great. I liked the other B & W Hammer thrillers better like Paranoiac. The thing that bugs me is that Janet did kill someone like her mother & the film suggests she's going to get out of the asylum soon. All forgiven? Her servants that nailed the Baxters know the truth but can't tell the authorities otherwise they'd be found guilty of crimes themselves. So how can Janet be allowed to re-enter society when she is guilty of manslaughter at the very least?
