Wish It Would Be Released On DVD

I really wish this would get released on DVD or at the very least I'd like to find a website that offers a VHS to DVD recording of it. :-(

I have a terrible allergy. Vodka makes my clothes fall off.

Yeah, it'd be nice if Universal would even release this (and the other William Castle films they own, that for no reason aren't on DVD) on the Made On Demand DVDs under the "Universal Vault Series" banner on Amazon.com, but they don't seem to be releasing too many of those recently.

If you really want it right now, I'm sure you could find a copy on ioffer.com.

At the very least...it would be nice for TCM to air it during the upcoming Halloween season. They've shown other Castle thrillers including 13 Ghosts and Homicidal, but I've never seen them show Night Walker. Come to think of it though, I don't recall them airing Macabre or I Saw What You Did either! Pity!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who wants this released on DVD. Why won't they release it?

Better than average pic-ought to be available;

Yes, it certainly should be available. I had a video technician bypass the copy-guard and transfer it to a DVD-R for me, but it obviously looks no better than the original studio VHS copy. It seems, though, that VERY slight up-conversion occurs during playback; this, however, only minimizes the typical fringe or slightly fuzzy outline around objects and actors that is present in most VHS tapes.

They SO MUCH need to re-release this (on TCM anyway.) This movie is SO much better than any blood-and-guts movie, that's actually more gross and stupid than scary.

I have a VHS copy, and still have my VHS/DVD player for that reason alone, lol. I saw this movie with my sister when I was 8 years old and still remember screaming in the movie theater. It later became a favorite 'sleepover' movie on Friday nights (back in the 60s, long before cable and DVDs.) My DH, 11 year-old DD and I watched it together soon after I received it in the mail. DD said it was the 'scariest movie she'd ever seen,' and then had HER friends over for a sleepover to watch it. They loved it!

See what this generation is missing? They need to see that movies which keep you on the edge of your seat are what makes movies more enjoyable. Come on TCM, (and whoever could bring this movie to DVD!)

No news of a future release? :(

You can torrent it here: http://kat.ph/the-night-walker-i0058403/ You need to have a bittorrent app like Vuze downloaded for it to torrent to. Also, don't click on the rectangular box that says "Download Movie". That's just a come-on to get you to download something else first. Go down to the 5 little icons and click the 4th one...the white arrow pointing down with brownish background. If you have a bittorrent app downloaded, it should download automatically to that. It could take awhile because there aren't many "seeders", but it's worth it.

Good luck and enjoy!

It is a shame this never got the nod for a DVD release. This is my favorite of Castle's gimmicky films starting in 1958 with Macabre through this one in 1964. The re-release of I Saw What You Did via the Vault Series when the original was OOP makes me wonder why this film didn't get a single release since the DVD format came to be. However, I'm afraid DVD is considered a dying medium, as most present day movies are released in Blu-ray only or combo packs of Blu/DVD. The studios are clamoring to sell all their older discs at cheap prices and, eventually, it appears streaming will be the main mode of film watching once movies are released to the public. Sigh.

Both Macabre and I Saw What You did have been shown on TCM.I have recorded copies of both.

"Macabre" and "I Saw What You Did" are both available on DVD... No "Night Walker", though...

I've just watched it in full on YouTube - it was downloaded in August 2012!

reply

Yes found it in you tube and downloaded it, watched it tonight, absolutely fascinating but as it was going on I had the feeling that I had watched it before many years ago as little bits and pieces about the plot came back to me.

In case anyone is still interested...the movie has been released on DVD by TCM as a double feature with Dark Intruder. YEA!
