Just watched this movie for the first time on AMC last week. My question is this; is the maid pregnant? I was unable to rewatch the movie but is seems that Danny and Dora talk to each other in the beginning of the movie like there is an issue that they need to discuss. Dora seems upset and if I remember Mrs. Bramson makes mention to this fact in the first part of the movie. Just wondering if someone can clear this up for me. Thanks.

shareIt's said right at the beginning, in the scene where Susan Hampshire asks the maid "What does it feel like?" - much more than an implication, a definite fact that is discussed.
A good movie yes, but fearful over-acting from Finney, and a grotesque 'Welsh' accent that would definitely NOT earn him a welcome in the hillsides! (More likely a lynching I should think - no wonder viewers couldn't understand what he was saying.)
