Who should play Higgins in the remake??

I was thinking maybe Michael Caine, but he is probably a bit too old by now.

What do the rest of you think?

reply

Hugh Laurie!

Kelsey grammer

I don't agree about Michael Caine. As good as he is I have never heard him do a trully posh accent, and this part 100% has to be.

reply

i dont think michael caine either but maybe ricard gere? he can sing and has the rite look and could play a charcter like higgins pretty well i think. i loved him in chicago!

"am i dead? i this heaven?"
"no this is just disney land painted white"

Remember Zulu?

reply

Someone like Rex, in figure as well as in acting and can give a good believeable performance. No one whose hugely popular because then it would be about them not Henry Higgins.

reply

Daniel Day Lewis, his performance in the age of innocence just convinced me

reply

Billy Crudup

It's almost perfect. With the way they make movies now, they'll special effects it to death.

reply

Alan Rickman

Let's motorvate

reply

Ah, now Rickman is one of the first names I've seen here that got me nodding yes. But I'd also like to suggest Jeremy Irons, who has actually done an album of the songs from this show, released in 1987 on Decca.

reply

yesss, you have superb taste.

I've seen Jeremy Northam mentioned elsewhere and I think he might well be perfect.

reply

Ralph Fiennes.. he proofed he can hold a note in Prince Of Egypt and he's a brilliant actor.

reply

hugh grant, ralph fienees, or colin firth. the other men are too old, ugly or serious.

reply

Richard E Grant. Who I know played him in a live version, but I think he'd be perfect.

Christopher Walken

Ralph Fiennes would be a good choice. He's very gentlemanly and he has a great singing voice.

I saw Richard E Grant play Higgins in Sydney and he was great. He had a weak actress playing Eliza, but he was able to carry the show with some help from a great performer playing Alfred Dolittle.
