Yes it was pretty horrible. But the country was about to change bigtime, just after this film was shot. This genre was put in the rearview mirror.

I knew this movie was going to be a silly piece of crap when I started watching it, but I thought it would be funny in a nostalgic kind of way. Boy was I in for a shock. I think this was literally the worst movie ever made, and I've seen Plan 9 From Outer Space. I can't understand how these beach party movies were ever popular. No wonder the baby boomers started doing acid, you have to be on LSD to get through this.
shareI've been watching a lot of 1960s gems. Was beginning to think this whole decade of movies had been unfairly maligned. For example, I just saw The Music Man. Was a really fun movie. Though it seems a little corny by today's standards. Ye Gods?
Anyway, I began to think that maybe the Frankie & Annette movies were similarly never given a fair shake. WRONG. This movie stunk to high heavens.
I love all the Beach Party movies but this one is my least favorite.

Would have been better if Luciana Paluzzi played her Spectre role from the James Bond movie "Thunderball", which she appeared in the following year.
shareYes, this movie is gloriously stupid. And I absolutely LOVE it for that very reason. It's just like having a two-hour beach party. Stop taking things so seriously, and just revel in the sheer silliness and lightheartedness of it all.
