Was Godzilla drunk?

Why did it seem as if Godzilla had been drinking? He woke up on the beach, presumably after an alcohol binge, or a party of some kind. After that, he proceeded to stumble all over the place, accidentally getting his tail stuck in a tower... Tripping over and falling into a pagoda... What was wrong with him?

I agree; it badly soured the film having him so clumsy all through it.

Not drunk; I think he had been in a bad fight in a previous film. He was still probably trying to recover from that.

I think he was fallin' all over the place because the actor's head was inside Godzilla's neck and he couldn't see a dang thing. But for comedic purposes, let's stick with "He was drunk" ^_^

Ishiro Honda wished to show how Godzilla was out of place in our time, so that's why Godzilla gets his tail stuck in Nagoya Tower, falls into Nagoya Castle and trips up several other places.

reply

Yeah, even a monster like Godzilla can trip and fall sometimes. I thought it added to the realism. His "clumsiness" showed that he isn't in the right place.

He took Titanosaurus' shot challenge back at the bar on Monster Island.

The scene where he emerges from the ground does make it seem like he's woken up with a bad hangover after a night of binge drinking. Perhaps the reason he went on a rampage was to find a giant, monster-sized cup of coffee.

reply

Coffe? He was looking to get a few shot of jaga

Don't be ridiculous, giant lizards don't drink alcohol. Do you know how much they would have to consume in order to be drunk?
