MST3K- 1997? Impossible!

I need some reassurance that I'm not losing my mind here.

I have a very distinct memory of the first time I saw the Jack Frost episode of MST3K. It was when I was living in a particular apt., and I lived there from September 1995 to November 1996. It *had* to be in that time window that I saw it.

But according to the MST3K episode listing I checked recently, it said it was first broadcast in 1997. Please tell me that's a typo. Because otherwise, I will seriously need to start questioning my own view of reality!

I didn't watch MST3K during that time period, and in fact the time period you mention I remember distinctly. So unless I saw it as a repeat in 1997, you're mistaken.

reply

There would be nothing unusual about seeing it as a repeat in 1997... I'm sure I did too, I must have seen it rerun on SciFi at least two or three times over the years.

reply

Yup. It's true. The epsisode of MST3k featuring Jack Frost (813) first aired July 12, 1997 on The SciFi Channel. I saw it and it wasn't a rerun.

You might have confused it with another Russian movie The Sword and the Dragon (617) which first aired on December 3, 1994. Which could have been rerun on The Comedy Channel until 1996.

Yeah, Jack Frost was just released in the lastest MST3K DVD set, and there's a new intro where Kevin Murphy says that it was the third in their "troika" of Russo/Finnish movies and that they were all pretty similar. So I'm quite certain that I was confusing Jack Frost with one of the previous two. Hopefully they'll release those someday and I can finally know for sure.

The Sword and the Dragon is included in the new MST box set released this week, hopefully I'll finally get the closure I so desperately need on this. Haven't slept since 2008.

EDIT: Watched it last weekend, didn't ring any bells. Dammit.
