Peter McEnery

All of us of a certain age were madly in love with Peter McEnery after this movie came out in 1964. Then I got the chance to go to Oxford University as a college sophomore in 1970. I found out that he was playing a double bill of "Rosencrantz and Gildenstern are Dead," followed by "Hamlet," in Leicester, England. Of course, he was playing Hamlet in both productions.

My girlfriends and I took the train on a Saturday to see both shows. He was terrific as Hamlet. After the afternoon show, Rosencrantz, we waited at the stage door and met him! He was as fabulous as I had imagined. He chatted with all of us and invited us to the cast party that night as that day the shows were closing! We went and had a fabulous time.

Peter McEnery was gracious, nice and of course, gorgeous. Talk about a girlhood fantasy fulfilled! :)

Wow. Thanks for the memory. I just watched The Moon-Spinners again for the first time in 20 years. It holds its own. Hayley's first onscreen kiss. Memorable. Nice to hear that he was a good guy.
