I wonder where the 'hall of mirrors' fight originated from.

It was in Enter the Dragon and nine years ealier it was here in The Devil of the Desert against the Son of Hercules.

Still, I wonder where it originated from the idea of the villain escaping into a hall of mirrors to gain the advantage over the hero.

The most brilliant use of it in film history is Orson Welles classic: "Lady from Shanghai". Now you know.

Thanks, Bathwater.

Did you finally see the "hall of mirrors" in "Lady from Shaghai"? I'm always interested in follow up though its been awhile.

What is the sound an imploding pimp makes?

reply

Sorry, I've yet to see The Lady from Shanghai.

I'll be certain to DVR it the next time it's on TCM.

Another year has gone by; have U made the effort?

Let it be unsaid: insignificance is the locus of true increpation.

reply

I promise. I promise I'll see it someday.

I assume you've trudged thru "Anthar" again and if so why? Perhaps I'll hear from U in the next century when we are definitely "Older".

Whole sight; or all the rest is desolation.

No, I haven't seen this film a second time. I just was going through some of my oldest posts. I just didn't realize how long ago it's been since I said that I'd watch The Lady From Shanghai. I think TCM is probably due to show it sometime in February (or March at the latest). I'll catch it then.

Okay, so TCM didn't show it until April. I did, however, see the film this time. I thought it was great. The shootout in the hall of mirrors was completely different from what I had anticipated, but still highly entertaining.
