Tyrion Lannister inspiration?

Does anyone else find an uncommon number of parallels between Hoptoad and GOT's Tyrion Lannister? Aside from both being little people, both are intelligent schemers,glib and quick-witted, fiercley protective of their women, and have a love of playing what both refer to as "the game."

Funny, watching this movie again tonight on TCM -- I thought of the same character. Very much alike, I think.

I don't know if he directly inspired him but I noticed the similarities to Tyrion as well. It's an interesting thought. George R. R. Martin is known to have taken his inspiration from a wide range of sources.
