The Morale of the Movie is...

...that it is alright for a man to blackmail and rape a woman as long as she is personally troubled and in need of psychological help because that man can always force her to confront her personal demons and get her to fall in love with him.

The moral of this story is beautiful women can get away with just about anything, and James Bond will come along and rescue you and make everything better. And that's the truth.
I also don't think Marnie was raped by Connery's character, although Marnie considered it rape.

reply

well..according to imdb(society) every woman has been raped, will be raped, etc.

IY, you know what I think? I think to the extent that your above quote is true stems from the spectre of mass paranoia. Look at the news. Realistically, it is 95% negative and fear based. I may be going out on a limb here, but it reminds me of George Orwell's novel 1984, where even your secret thoughts are controlled for fear of annihilation.

The group with the majority of the power has all that power because (like you alluded to about people achieving what they want to achieve) they WANT all that power, and the best way to keep the power and control over the "little people" is through straight up fear.

Fear begets fear. Paranoia begets paranoia.

reply

I think it's both paranoia and cynicism.

Throw in: "she told me she was raped", "really, I know a woman who told me something like that", "oh, that's like my friend who said a men tried to rape her" "..you know what?, men rape women" "let's discover instances of rape that nobody perceives but us"

Go on practically any board, and you will see suspicions of molestation/rape, for example Regan in 'The Exorcist' having been molested. You will probably find a rape topic on 'The Brady Bunch' board. In 'Marnie', I need to see the film again to know what Marnie says after the "rape", what Marc then says, then what Marnie says. Hitchcock did not show us exactly how bedtime went, only panned over to the window. Maybe he didn't want us to know. So, again, I would need to hear the exchange of dialogue

reply

Oh, cynicism. Interesting. Can you please elaborate some on what you mean by that? I am curious.

Every man who talks to a child wants wants sex from him/her; a man that literally asks for the time of day from a woman is suspect; he wants to scam me; she wants to rip me off; no caller I.D. is suspect; everyone is a liar; anybody who knocks on your door is to be feared...

cynicism/paranoia; same mindset, different circumstances.
To fear is one thing, to disbelieve or lack trust is another.

reply

you are so off the woman was raped in the movie thats the whole reason the director kept the scene to make the man character look bad

reply

I don't know if it's that deep, except the paranoia part, but females who think the worst in men.

reply

lol are you an idiot the woman in the film was raped an that makes the man character a total sicko end of story rape is wrong get over yourself

reply

this movie didn't have a moral.

reply

Who is convincing these women that sex with men is bad?? I sure as hell don't want to discourage women from wanting me to touch them. By pushing a narrative of hate and fear toward male on female / PIV sex, feminism is only creating more "victims." They've convinced you all to hate and fear sex. That's the problem.

reply

I'm not sure that THAT is the reality and it honestly worries me that people feel this way.

reply

I just think it is the fear\envy of not being able to dominate a man physically\sexually that makes females think that sex can become rape, because what else has to got to attract and allure men to her to get what she wants? Men get with women for "sex" first and foremost and the rest of the bulls<>t about male\female relationships being "normal" and "healthy", is just a societal construct to keep things in a state of flux and confusion. Isn't it sissy to hang out with females anyway, then expectations are that he is expected to make a life long relationship with one?  Why would any male want too, apart from the "sex" that he wants, is beyond me. Oh yeah, they want a family, to be perceived as "normal" and then f<>k up their kids, especially mothers who have sons with no fathers around.

Don't eat the whole ones!...Those are for the guests. 🍪

The morale of the movie is pretty low. The moral, on the other hand...

lol

That's right. Women's bodies and sexual autonomy is far more valuable than men's. Women can rape a man anytime, because it's not considered rape. BUT when a man gets the urge to be with his wife sexual and he suddenly can't control his urges like that woman who jumps on her man while he's sleeping (it is nice to wake up to that), he's suddenly worse than Hitler. I don't think you women today even want men sexually anymore. I think you say so just for appearance.

reply

As I get older I realize that more and more.

Mature women have grown up to feel and act as you referenced in your last 3 lines.

reply

Got it.

Does it hurt, upset and confuse you the fact that 'this matter' was not always seen to be a 'terrible evil' even though today many people rightly see it along those lines and that also, the culprits aren't always seen as villains who is guilty of this, and if they escape the law, must have some or other comeuppance for it?

Or, much like LIFE ITSELF, you have gotten, even with disagreements and lack of overall satisfaction, USED to it so it doesn't personally frustrate you out of your conscience, consciousness and comfort zone and you just look at it overall in a matter of fact way without having any mental inner reactions of cosmic proportions life like major outrage?

Judging by many responses here, never mind if its from America or humanity in general, I thought so, harsh overall reality and certain already well known established and incorrect and unfair thoughts on it all notwithstanding.
