Abby's Lawnmower/Automobile?

Hudson drove a classic black Falcon with a red interior, but what was that li'l yellow lawnmower disguised as a car that Abby drove at the beginning? I didn't see one identifying marker on or inside it, but it may have been doctored to make it sound so distinctively irritating...

Ah! Good question. It's called an NSU SportPrinz, made in Germany in the late 50s through mid 60s, but very rare in the U.S. It has a two-cylinder engine, which is why it sounds like a lawnmower. As you can see, it's tiny-- perfect for zipping into parking spaces! Which is probably why they chose it for that scene.

Thanks for the question

"...NSU SportPrinz..." Thank you for the answer. I've tried to be as observant of that car as I could, but I've never seen a dash or deck marker or any side markings on that car in all the years since I first saw it.
Not arguing, but on the other hand, wasn't the Nash Metropolitan still around in those days? Not as economical, but small, economical and quieter... I think part of the reason it was chosen was it's irritatingly noisy engine, reminding everyone "Abby" was still in pursuit even with "Roger" filling the screen.

Thanks from me too, if you ever read this. I love that car!

"Joey, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?"

I always thought it sounded like a small motorcycle. Now that I know it was a twin, it makes sense!
