Onibaba or Kaidan

both films are japanese horror and released in 1964
and both rated 8/10 .
i liked Onibaba more than Kaidan

Onibaba has more political and social bite than Kaidan, while Kaidan is an even more unique and singular film in it's style and presentation. They are both quite impressive and scary. Have you had a chance to see Kuroneko (aka The Black Cat), which was directed by the same director (Kaneto Shindo) responsible for Onibaba? I would also recommend Portrait of Hell and Illusion of Blood (both starring Tatsuya Nakadai who appeared Kaidan's "Woman in the Snow" episode. You might like those as well.

Kwaidan 10/10

Onibaba 9/10

Out of Onibaba and Kwaidan I have to choose Kwaidan as the superior film. The visuals and the eerie atmosphere in Kwaidan makes it one of my at least 60 favorite films at the moment.. Onibaba is also great though.

Kwaidan is probably a greater film... they are both pretty great.
