...Lost in Translation!?

Just because this is a justifiedly well-known Japanese film and that's a film set in Japan that IMDb-users only know because it's not Japanese? They have absolutely nothing else in common! As well, I don't see any Japanese films being recommended for those who liked Lost in Translation...

It doesn't matter whether that film is from Japan, what matters is that it isn't anything like it!

Really, it is OK having films from different countries recommended by the database but they should have similar themes.

Other films on the recommendation list that shouldn't be there are:

Lost in Translation
*Rashômon
*San Paolo
*Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!

One that is questioanble:
*Scary Movie 4

Ones that should be there:

*Tokaido Yotsuya kaidan
*The Shining

Ones that most likely should be there but may be too different to be of interested for some fans of Kaidan and Hearn:

*1408
*The Grudge
*Ringu

The Count

The Apple Scruffs Corps, 07

I know theme and not nationality is what matters (although language might, since a great many people seem to dislike reading subtitles), but that just seems to be the only reason, seen as LIT is sort of "Japanese-themed" and someone (inexplicably) probably recommended it on a load of Japanese film pages (but, if you check, not the other way round).

Bilbo was MEANT to blindly stumble into that quest, in which case you too were MEANT to do as I say

I'd add Sakebi (retribution) by Kyoshi Kurosawa.

Saam gaang yi (Three: Extremes) would be one good contemporary suggestion as they are both a collection of short horror films and there's the beautiful Japanese contribution of 'Box' by Takashi Miike. ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0420251/ )

IMDB recommendations are based on keywords and not on common sense.
