Who else thought of that movie when they saw this the first time on video or DVD?

i def thought of the tv show even tho kwaidan is about 20 yrs before.

It's been a while since I last watched this. I saw this on TCM. A first because I don't usually watch films in a foreign language. Maybe halfway through "The Woman in the Snow" I started to think of the Gargoyle story from TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE: THE MOVIE. It's probably the story I can remember most, also "Hoichi the Earless" somewhat.

I know only thought of it but I am convinced that this story is where TFTD stole it from.

The gargoyle segment with Rae Dawn Chong (and she and Debbie Harry are the only good things in the movie) is an obvious direct lift.
