Which tale was your favorite? *spoiler*

For me, it would be "the Black Hair". The archer sequence was done perfectly; the visuals still stick in my mind. I loved the way how the scene would switch back and forth between the archer's course and the poor girl's house to show us the guilt of his conscience. It had a well handled story about love and status that accumulates to a horrific ending.

I thought `The Woman of The Snow` was the most beautifull, visually at least, but `The Black Hair` was the most moving and haunting.

i totally agree

I enjoyed all four stories equally, although "Earless" was the most poetic.

Hoichi the Earless is my favourite of the stories, by far.

hoichi the earless. Masterpiece, not to mention it has the shimura. You can't go wrong with a little shimura.

'Hoichi the Earless' followed by 'Woman in the Snow'.

Last seen film:

Hoichi the Earless was my favorite.

Woman of the Snow was also very good.

I found Black Hair to be rather dull even though the ending was good.

And I wasn't able to see all of the last segment due to my DVD player skipping.

I am not sure. I am tempted to declare 'Mimi-Nashi Hoichi' to be my favourite, though.

Actually some of my favourite tales from 'Kwaidan' were not actually used for this moving (I really loved 'Oshidori' and would love to see a film version of that), but I am not complaining; I wish there was atleast a sequel.

Yuki-onna, Woman of the Snow is maybe my favorite, but The Black Hair is also very good! Its so creepy.

Woman of the Snow. Though I admired the entire film from a technical point of view, the extreme control and penchant for repetition and drawing things out didn't always engage me. But this second episode was the most beautiful, and for me the most transporting. Some of those images will never leave me...the colors were so lush, the compositions so perfect...absolutely brilliant.
