On TCM : March 20

This Saturday (March 20) at 2:00 AM.

Set your DVRs/recorders!

I've never seen the movie but I've read about it in the book "Bad Movies We Love" (1993).

I hope TCM shows a widescreen print! But, even if they don't, it's a wild, incredible film with a marvelous star performance. My recorder is set!!

Pan & scan, unfortunately.

1st and LAST time I ever watch this movie. With an 82min run-time I knew I could get through it but it wasn't easy.

It's, to me, just one of those movies where you keep saying to yourself "Kill em" or "That was your chance" or "Are there really people that messed up/cruel" or "Are there people really that stupid". The last two are of course yes and the first two can be said about a million movies.

When David is about to bring the problem to a conclusion, while holding the poker, he turns into a nurse. I mean he's ready to fight for his life and gets the upper hand, with Ron bleeding(miraculous healing BTW), Buck with his back to David, and David with the poker. Kill them all, call police, "I had a break-in and defended myself". Movie over.

And what happened to the roadblocks? The gang drove from David's house to the boarder without incident. Perhaps further north? Just wondering.

It did however end the way I wanted........THEY ALL DIED.

PS. Ann Margret is hot, hot, hot!

4/10

I was unable to keep up my concentration in the second half.

I wish David is a stronger character to keep me interested. He is a little too naive and passive for my concept of a hostage-turned-hero.

I think we can all agree, however, that Ann-Margret was very strong, and I loved the gleaming black-and-white cinematography.
