I love this film!

Okay, it's not the greatest film ever made, but I really like it. Jeanne Moreau is wonderful, the story is weird, and the film has a great look to it.

It miles away, much better and beatiful than 1000 films of this decade

That's quite true. And this film IMO is not even amongst Buñuel's Top20. That speaks volumes about the level of today's filmmakers and cinema; at least about most of them. There are always some fine exceptions, though.

Indeed, was a wonderful surprise for me. You never know whats there to get discovered.

I enjoyed this film very much, but mostly I think for Jeanne Moreau's performance. For someone with such a distinct and even idiosyncratic personality, she certainly could and did play a variety of types of characters. Each performance by her I first see adds to that variety, as here. If I was expecting something, I would have been surprised, but now I no longer expect.

The narrative did get a bit confusing, though, and there was a tendentious, polemical angle involving the horrors of the fascist mentality, real as that is. Still I gave it a 9 out of 10, mostly for Jeanne's performance.

I think I may love this film as well...going to re-watch tomorrow and decide. If nothing else it's thought-provoking! :)

Enjoyed Tristana (sp?) and Belle De Jour as well.
