I am happy it got good reviews here, and isn't another mediocre Alain film. Can't wait to record it in 30 minutes. yay!

I enjoy watching him but even more when the scripts are good.

Unfortunately....dubbed in English. No original French soundtrack....oh well, beggars can't be choosers....as the old saying goes.

reply

Do you know if that's him dubbing his own voice or someone else?

"Perhaps just one more, Master Harry, for luck?"

I would say that it was Delon himself. Or a very good imitation.

reply

No, that was definitely not his voice. That voice was much deeper and didn't have Alain's own style of speech.

It is the voice of the same guy who always dubbed the voice for Marcello
Mastroianni in many films. They must have used him to dub nearly everyone.

Damn, I was afraid of that. I set the timer to record it because it started before I got home from work. After I finalized the disc, I noticed in the opening credits that it was the English title, which made me wary. Damn, damn, damn...I HATE dubbed films. This is twice TCM has screwed me in the last month. The first time was when they showed a pan & scan version of Le Mépris a while back. Not only that, but it was a bad print on top of it.

@Johnny_Guitar: I could not BELIEVE that print of Le Mépris! I was so excited to watch it again and it had such miserable film quality and was DUBBED to boot! I turned it off after 5 minutes. And it's not like TCM doesn't do movies with subtitles at all, either: I tivoed La Sirène du Mississippi a few months back on TCM and it was subtitled. Why show dubs, TCM? It's not like Criterion doesn't have a great version of Le Mépris. I'll just have to queue it up again.

Some interesting info about this movie (and good posters) at this site:

It says the dubbed version was the only one available. I can understand that for 'Have I the Right to Kill?' as it is rare. But yeah, like others have said, the dubbed version of 'Contempt' was strange. I just watched the Criterion version and it looked great and had subtitles.

I also DVR'd it and finally watched the whole thing, it was excellent! Even dubbed
was very good (I like original soundtrack with subtitles on most films as well).
I just wanted to input that TCM's website has a notification service so they will email you when it is on next for those trying to catch it on TV. Good luck, its my second favorite Delon movie after The Red Circle of the ones I have seen him in (only about 6 to 8 films so far).

When you look for it on TCM its titled "Right To Kill" I think or whatever english title is here on IMdb.com.
