English Dub?

Was this film ever dubbed into english for release. My video copy has English main titles, but the film itself is in French with English subtitles.

My old VHS copy is dubbed in English.

Oh, really? When was this tape issued?

I have no idea when, but I got it years ago from Facets video. I just popped it in the VCR to double check, and it is indeed dubbed in English with no subtitles. Label on the tape does not indicate any particular version, the opening credits are in English, as is the title in the opening credits "That Man From Rio". The original title "L'Homme de Rio" appears no where on the label or in the credits. There are no end credits either, all you get is "The End" and fade to black.

I would like to have a copy in the original language..if you have a copy in the original language, I'd be willing to trade. If you're interested email me at: [email protected]

I am very, very interested in a VHS (PAL) copy of this. English with French subtitles prefered, but English-or German dubbed will be fine too. Can anyone help?

I have the VHS in French with English subtitles, and recently TCM ran it the same way (and widescreen letterbox)...but I remember the English dubbed version on the late show ages ago. While I'm no fan of dubbing I did like it here - some lines varied a bit from the original, which gave me a laugh:

-Adrian grabs a telescope from an American tourist to follow his assailants' path - the tourist keeps pleading 'C'mon buddy, that's mine!' and Adrian snaps 'Don't be so selfish!'

-The second statue is unearthed, just in time for two goons to intercept it. One of them runs Agnes down and strikes her; she protests "That's no way to treat a lady!" Adrian gets a hold of the goon's poison dart gun and momentarily gets an advantage - then Agnes screams at the sight of it and throws it away, reprimanding him "You know how I feel about firearms!" He protests, but she won't be moved.

-Having enough, Adrian pulls up to the police station in his underwear to turn himself in - he proceeds to run off a list of offenses he's committed - the policeman understands nothing but the word 'Brasilia' and cheerfully points the way. Adrian mutters 'I should take up crime!'

-Man in canoe fires a shot at the hungry alligator, saving Adrian - crows 'Haw! Right in the eye! ...I hate gators!'

According to this site, Hal Linden was one of the dubbed voice talents - wonder who he played?
