Belmondo Did Many of His Own Stunts in This Flick

"That Man From Rio is, among many things, a showcase for the dazzling athleticism of Belmondo, who does many of his own stunts, sometimes while decorously losing his shirt. Indeed, it’s almost nothing but a big stunt movie peppered with madcap mix-ups while rubbing its illogical nonsense in our faces."

No wonder he can barely walk anymore. There are a LOT of dangerous stunts in this film. In fact, it's almost nothing but action and stunts combined with a beautiful travelogue of Brazil and lots of "Tintin" style humor.

Also, the exquisitely beautiful, charming and funny actress Francoise Dorleac (Catherine Deneuve's sister) had her best role in this film, even better than her roles in "Cul-de-Sac" and "The Soft Skin," before her horrific and tragic death in a car accident (she got trapped in the car while the fuel-tank exploded and burned to death). So sad. Every time I see her on the screen my heart skips a beat. It seems she was an extroverted as Catherine is introverted.
