Locations

Apparently the Museum of Modern Art in Rio was used as the external helicopter landing scene in Brasilia. Does anyone know where the internal scenes (the party scene where Adolfu Celi lived)?

Also, when Belmondo and Dorleac are driving the old car from Rio to Brasilia is that the actual highway .

Would love to visit the locations of this film but have been unable to track them down.

The 'Goofs' section on this page points out the police station they stopped at on the highway is a lot closer to Rio (Petropolis) than Brasilia, but yes, it is the actual highway. I wonder where that dizzyingly high trestle/bridge they go over is.

I recently bought the DVD, as this is one of my favorite movies - I'll have to look again, but during the last part, deep in the Amazon jungle, I swear I saw Rio's landmark Pao de Acucar way in the background. Of course it would make sense to film close to civilization and not thousands of kilometers away from everything, but now I may not be able to unsee it. On the other hand, using familiar mountains as reference points, maybe I could figure out where they filmed.

[Update] Looking again, I may have not seen the landmark mountain, but I'm guessing the Amazon jungle scenes would have been filmed in the Tijuca National Park, just west of the city. An image search shows a lot of similar terrain and familiar waterfalls.

Thank you for the info re the locations for this film. I know the film was made over 50 years ago and places would have changed. Hoping to make the trip to Rio and would like to track down some of the places shown in the film and make a trip to Brasilia.
