John Abineri

I may well be mistaken, but was that a fleeting glimpse of the late John Abineri as the Newspaper vendor in the outdoor London scene?

Well, I don't know about that. All I do know is that the scene with the Newspaper vendor at Piccadilly circus was originally shot for "Der Zinker" one or two years earlier. Since it is one of very few shots using actual on location footage of London, it has been used once again just with new lines dubbed over it. You will notice that the tagline is still the same...
The newspaper vendor has been credited in none of the films. Only imdb.de credits Gerd Martienzen for the part, but he actually did only the dubbing voice for the second hand shot in "Der Hexer". (He also dubbed Klaus Kinski in Dr. Shiwago and Aguirre.)
So who knows? Since the scene was shot in London, why shouldn't they use a local guy like John Abineri? Seems very likely to me, since it would have been a lot more expensive, if they had one of their own stars flown in - just for one line!

BIT long on coming back on this one. Abineri was actually Anglo German. Fluent i German, he played German soldiers in many British film and TV shows. I have looked at it again, and i am pretty sure its him.
