I had to look twice at this actress to realize that it was Ellen Burstyn in a very early role.

There is no "off" position on the genius switch.

Yes, it was her indeed. Ellen Burstyn was credited as Ellen McRae in nearly all her film and television appearances prior to 1970. So she was Franzie Salzman in the movie.

Ellen McRae, aka Burstyn, was my main attraction to this film, and she carries off this early role very well. Even though it's been 48 years, she looks pretty much like she does now. Does the woman ever age?
